Cooking Camp – Week at a Glance
Week 1: June 29th to July 3th (no camp on July 1st)
Latin Food
Hola amigos!
This week is all about Latin America—the food, culture, language and music.
Under the guidance of our chef of the week, we will cook and savour popular Mexican, Salvadoran, Honduran, Colombian and Brazilian foods. Campers will learn to prepare delicious Mexican meat or bean quesadillas as well as exquisite Salvadoran pupusas: meat, bean, and cheese stuffed in a corn flour tortilla and the Honduran signature dish—baleadas: scrambled egg, pureed beans, and cheese wrapped in a whole wheat flour tortilla.
We will also make a variety of delicious dips and sauces such as guacamole, pico de gallo, and salsa to accompany our daily food creations. Ay caramba!

Italian Food

This week, campers will immerse themselves in all things Italian—the delicious food, the culture, the history and some of the language.
To prepare this week’s dishes, campers will learn to use and enjoy the aroma of fresh herbs such as basil, oregano, thyme, and sage among others.
Pasta, sauces, meat, legumes, cheese, and veggies are some of the ingredients included on this week’s menu. Campers will make their favourite pasta dish, calzones, pizza, garlic bread, cheese bread, salads, bruschetta and much more!

Chinese Food

This week we’ll prepare delicious Chinese food, and learn about the country’s culture, celebrations, costumes, language and music.
Favourite highlights include chow mein, fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken. Yum! Campers will learn to season their food with different sauces and spices as they prepare tender meats, noodles, stir-fried veggies, and rice.

Greek Food

Opa! Welcome to Greek week, when we’ll enjoy classic Greek dishes and learn about Greek culture, music, dance, history, and language.
Chicken souvlaki, stuffed peppers and tomatoes, pastitsio (Greek lasagna), hummus, and avgolemono (chicken lemon stew) are some of the dishes to be prepared and enjoyed on our culinary journey to the Mediterranean.

Join us on a culinary journey to Japan.
This week’s menu includes: making and enjoying sushi, steamed rice, stir-fried chicken and veggies, miso soup, and vegetable tempura. Campers will learn to marinate meats and veggies with aromatic sauces and spices.

This week, our budding chefs will savour the flavours of Thailand.
Winter rolls, mango salad, curry beef on rice, orange salad, pineapple salad, and Thai chicken fried rice are some of the delicious dishes to be prepared and enjoyed this week. Campers will learn to use the exotic and aromatic spices from the region to enhance the flavour of our dishes.
We will also learn more about Thailand: its people, culture, geography, and language.

Eastern European Food

There is so much to learn this week as we dive into the dishes of Eastern Europe.
We’ll learn to prepare Goulash (meat and vegetables stew), Langos (Hungarian pizza), Deruny (potato pancakes), perogies, rice, and fresh salads. Marinating, chopping, slicing, and peeling vegetables are some of the activities our campers will do in the kitchen as we laugh, mingle, and cooperate with each other in the preparation of each meal.
We’ll also learn more about this region, including its geography, history, and the languages spoken.

Join us to explore and discover some of the exciting tastes of Africa. We’ll learn about some of the countries in the region, like: Did you know that in South Africa, a “braai” (barbecue) is an essential part of the country’s culture?
This week, we’ll marinate chops, steaks, chicken kebabs, rice, and vegetables with flavourful spices and enjoy the aromas of each one.

BBQ and Summer Food
Hello friends!
Welcome to barbecue week, the perfect ending to summer vacation.
In addition to succulent steak, chicken, and ribs, we will also grill protein-rich veggie options like tofu, tempeh, and bean and quinoa steaks. Side dishes include fresh summer vegetables: asparagus, zucchini, and red peppers. We will also prepare dips and sauces to go with the “parrillada!” To complete our daily feast: fresh green salad, as well as pasta/rice quinoa salads.

Roots, Shoots & Blooms
This week, campers become young botanists as we explore the plant life that makes High Park so special. We’ll learn to identify native trees like the sugar maple, discover which flowers attract pollinators, and explore how plants grow above and below the soil. Campers will examine root systems, leaves, stems, and seeds while learning why native plants are essential to healthy ecosystems.
We’ll connect our learning to High Park’s rare oak savannah and talk about how humans help protect and regenerate local plant life.

Bugs, Beetles & Biodiversity
From ants and beetles to butterflies and spiders, this week is all about the tiny creatures that play a massive role in our environment. Campers will learn where insects live, what they eat, and how they contribute to soil health, pollination, and food chains.
We’ll explore High Park’s meadows and forest edges to observe insects in their natural habitats and discuss how to protect vulnerable species. A nature-based scavenger hunt rounds out this week of discovery.

What’s hiding beneath our feet? This week focuses on soil, rocks, and natural materials found in the ground. Campers will dig into topics like soil layers, fossils, stones, and how landforms are created over time.

This week explores how natural systems respond to light, heat, and energy. Campers will learn how sunlight affects plants, animals, weather patterns, and daily life on Earth. We’ll investigate concepts like day and night, shadows, temperature, and how living things adapt to their environments.
Through hands-on experiments, outdoor observation, and creative projects, campers will explore how energy moves through nature — from the sun to the soil, plants, animals, and people. Activities will include shadow mapping, simple weather tracking, and building structures that interact with light and heat.
While our learning is grounded in nature on Earth, this theme naturally expands curiosity and wonder — making it a perfect complement to big-picture exploration.

We’ll explore forest trails, observe nesting areas, and discuss how protecting forests protects entire ecosystems.

Wild Toronto: Urban Animals & Adaptation
Toronto is full of wildlife — if you know where to look. This week explores how animals adapt to urban environments, from raccoons and turtles to birds, amphibians, and insects.
Campers will learn about animal classifications, habitats, and survival strategies while exploring how cities and nature coexist.

Planet Protectors: Caring for Our Home
Our final week brings everything together. Campers will learn about sustainability, recycling, composting, endangered species, and how humans can protect local ecosystems.
Activities include bird watching, plant identification, nature art using recycled materials, and discussions about real ways kids can help the planet.
We’ll also explore High Park’s oak savannah restoration, including why controlled burns happen each spring to regenerate this rare ecosystem.

Art Camp – Week at a Glance

Dyeing & Science
This week is a mix of art, science, and fashion! Our Art Camp kids will head into the kitchen to start, making their own dye from scratch using vegetables, fruits and spices. Once the different dyes are ready, the artistic aspect of the project begins. Campers get to choose their favourite colours from the freshly made dyes to use on their garments. It’s time for creativity to take over, as campers test and experiment to design their own masterpieces!
Each camper needs to bring a garment of choice to dye: t-shirt, socks, headbands, sweater, etc.

3D Art
This week, our Art Camp kids will create three-dimensional art as big as their imagination. It’s a confidence and self-esteem-boosting voyage.
Campers are free to choose what they want to create. Will it be a creature, a character or a landscape? We support their choice of technique as well. They can paper mâché, draw, sculpt or skillfully fold and glue paper pieces together to create a 3D masterpiece. The final stage is decorating, when campers get to select from a variety of colourful materials to add the finishing touches to their creation.

The Science Of Paper Mâché
This week, campers get to make their own paper mâché solution from scratch! Art meets science in the kitchen, where we keep all the child-friendly ingredients to concoct our paper mâché mixture. Measuring, mixing, stirring and pouring are all important steps.
While the solution cools down, we’ll make our way to the art shop to work on the structure campers want to create. What to make? A mask? A 3D creature? The list is endless – they decide! Once paper mâché structures are completed, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get ready to paper mâché! Let it dry, repeat, let it dry again and voilà – we have arrived at the decoration stage. Whatever they wish to create, we are here to guide them through it all!

Clay Creations
This week is a timeless favourite for all ages. We’ll get out the child-friendly ingredients for our homemade clay recipe. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3. Measure, mix, stir, and voila! After the clay is made, campers will mould and decorate their creations: animals, creatures, characters, whatever it is that inspires them. Campers will become clay-making and sculpting experts!
Campers will learn about the uses of clay in the conservation and restoration of historical objects on a trip to the Royal Ontario Museum.

Magnetic Art
Magnet play introduces fun scientific principles and also increases fine motor development and coordination. This week, campers will learn, experiment, and create with magnets and other craft supplies to make art the whole family can enjoy: fridge magnets!

Earth-Friendly Art
This week, our young artists will get to create their own masterpieces from recycled and natural materials. Doubly fabulous! It’s an imagination inspiring, creativity building, and problem-solving adventure. This is the time where once more, campers will get to let their originality and creativity run free and, at the same time, help the planet by using recycled and natural materials such as cardboard, paper rolls, paper bags, pinecones, dried leaves/twigs, tree bark, rocks, masking tape, glue and paint.

Jewelry Making
Necklaces, anklets, rings and pendants are some of the jewelry to be made this week! Campers can explore our wide variety of materials and let their creativity and originality take their course. Campers get to choose from our staple materials such as resin, ink and colourful hot glue, among others. A large range of adornments is available to decorate and add the finishing touches to jewels.
Remember that in addition to being creative, campers get to work on skills such as fine motor, social and communication, cognitive, bilateral coordination and visual motor skills. We look forward to seeing everyone at the craft shop!

Brain-Tickling Origami
Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper into different objects, shapes, and animals. Beyond its artistic aspect, did you know that origami provides children with many benefits? Let’s start with hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and mental concentration! Campers are invited to join us in this artistic endeavour, to derive these fabulous benefits as they let their creativity guide the way! Magic balls, diamonds, claws, ninja stars and animals – these are some of the endless creations we can do with origami this week!

Piñata Party!
This week, our budding artists get to create their own piñata! They start by making a hollow sphere or structure to mimic their favourite animal, creature or character. Then, campers decorate their creation with the materials of their choice. The final step: fill it up with enough goodies for all our friends at camp! Everyone partakes at our “hasta pronto” party at the end of the week.
Piñatas are the highlight of children’s parties in Latin America. We want to share this fun tradition with our campers at Jardin Infantil Academy! In Latin American culture, whenever there is a birthday celebration at home with family, at daycare or at school with friends and teachers – there is a piñata!

Sports Camp – Week at a Glance
Come play with us!
We’ve designed our sports camp to help each child develop a passion for sports and active living with an emphasis on having fun, playing fair, and winning (or losing!) as a team. During this active week, we will build your child’s confidence and competence both on and off the court.
Your child will get a great start every morning, when campers’ energy levels are highest, with physical challenges and skill-building. This list includes soccer, basketball, tag, dodgeball, and tug-of-war. They’ll be passing, jumping, kicking, and laughing. In the afternoon, they’ll get the chance to spend quality time with their new friends cooling off in the splash pad.
We strongly believe in the power of sports and games to promote gross motor skill development; good mental health; focus; and a sense of belonging.

Track and Field – Olympic Games Week
This week, campers experience the spirit of the Olympic Games through fun, inclusive challenges that emphasize teamwork, perseverance, and friendly competition. Inspired by Olympic traditions from around the world, campers will take part in relay races, balance challenges, cooperative team games, and track-and-field-style activities.
Rather than focusing on winning, we highlight sportsmanship, effort, and supporting teammates — helping campers build confidence and resilience while staying active.

Go With The Flow Camp – Week at a Glance
Our “Go with the Flow Camp”, like our other camp programs offers a structure with a weekly theme and a daily routine.
The differences on our “Go with the Flow Camp”, are that with our skilled guidance, the children arrive to the desired goal – learning though fun – on their own terms! This group also offers a smaller ratio: One staff member per every four children for a more personalized attention.

Weekly theme: Drawing & Painting to Express Feelings
This week focuses on using art as a gentle way to communicate emotions. Children are invited to explore drawing and painting through open-ended activities that encourage self-expression, creativity, and calm. Through colours, textures, and shapes, campers can share how they feel in a safe and supportive environment, without pressure to verbalize.
Much of our creative time takes place outdoors, allowing children to draw and paint while surrounded by the natural beauty of High Park.

Weekly theme: Sensory Calming & Regulation
This week supports children in discovering what helps their bodies feel calm and regulated. Campers will explore a variety of sensory activities designed to soothe the nervous system, build self-awareness, and encourage choice. Children are supported in noticing their preferences and learning simple strategies to help themselves feel comfortable and grounded.
Daily time in High Park allows children to regulate through fresh air, natural textures, and open green space.

This week introduces calming auditory experiences that help children slow down and find balance. Through listening to water and other gentle sounds, campers practice mindfulness, relaxation, and focused attention. Activities are designed to support emotional regulation in a peaceful and predictable way.
Natural soundscapes in and around High Park are used daily to support calm listening and quiet reflection.

Children are encouraged to slow down and observe the world around them. This week emphasizes stillness, imagination, and connection to nature through simple observation and creative reflection. Activities support grounding, curiosity, and gentle engagement with the environment.
High Park becomes our classroom as children spend time outdoors observing clouds, trees, and seasonal changes.

This week focuses on tactile exploration and sensory comfort. Campers engage in hands-on activities that allow them to explore textures and movements at their own pace. Sensory play offers opportunities for calming, repetition, and emotional release in a supportive setting.
Outdoor sensory experiences in High Park — such as sand, grass, and natural materials — are woven into daily activities.

This week helps children build body awareness and a sense of physical grounding. Gentle movement and body-based activities support emotional regulation, confidence, and comfort. Campers are encouraged to notice how their bodies feel and choose activities that help them feel safe and strong.
Spending time moving and resting outdoors in High Park supports natural grounding and body awareness.

Weekly theme: Creative Expression & Imaginative Play
This week invites children to express themselves through imaginative and creative play. Using storytelling, movement, and simple dramatic activities, campers explore emotions and ideas in ways that feel natural and pressure-free. Participation is always flexible and guided by each child’s comfort level.
Open green spaces in High Park offer a calm, inspiring setting for imaginative play and creative exploration.

Weekly theme: Exploring Feelings & Perspectives
Campers explore emotions and learn that everyone experiences feelings differently. Through art, reflection, and gentle group activities, children are supported in recognizing and expressing emotions without judgment. The focus is on building emotional awareness and acceptance in a calm, inclusive environment.

The final week of camp focuses on familiarity, connection, and gentle celebration. Children revisit favourite calming activities from the summer while reflecting on shared experiences and friendships. The week ends with a relaxed end-of-summer celebration designed to feel joyful, inclusive, and emotionally safe for all campers.
We continue to spend meaningful time outdoors in High Park, enjoying the routines and spaces that have supported us all summer.
End of Summer Party!
Summer comes to an end leaving us with new memories, new friends and what better way to say goodbye than a great party! Piñatas, sweet treats and a whole lot of fun for all campers.
