Frequently Asked Questions
What language/s are used at your camp programs?
English. However, we highly value multilingualism and incorporate the use of other languages, particularly French and Spanish, into our programming. This is done in a kid-friendly way that does not assume prior knowledge of the language. Your child will learn new words and phrases to encourage an early love and appreciation for our multicultural city.
Is JIA affiliated with the church where your camp programs operate?
We have access to indoor space at our local church, but JIA does not have any religious affiliation.
What health measures do you have in place?
Just as we’ve done since 2020, we follow Toronto Public Health guidelines and ask parents to screen their children for symptoms.
Our programs are outdoor-based (and have been since before the pandemic!) We love spending time in nature.
Our indoor facilities, which may be used from time to time are outfitted with air purifiers that use True HEPA filters. The filters are high-efficiency and greatly contribute to improved air quality.
How does JIA ensure safety during field trips?
To prioritize the safety of all children during field trips, we use the school bus method for transportation and ensure that ALL staff members accompany the trip. This approach allows us to maintain better child-to-staff ratios, ensuring every child receives appropriate supervision and care throughout the outing.
What if something changes and we want to cancel our camp registration?
We know that life happens! We offer a “no questions asked” full refund policy until March 1st, 2025. There is an administrative charge of $100 per week and per child for cancellations made at least 30 days prior to the week you signed up for. After 30 days, 50% of the fees will be refunded for full unattended weeks only.
Do you welcome children with special abilities in your programs?
We welcome children with a range of needs and abilities into our programs. We work with parents and guardians to better understand how to accommodate their children and create space for them to thrive. If your child requires one-on-one assistance to participate at camp, their support worker can attend with them at no extra cost.
To better serve our friends with special abilities, we have created our Go With The Flow camp. Information coming soon.
How long does camp run for?
JIA Summer Camp runs from June 30th to August 29th, 2025 (even during public holidays!). Sessions are booked on a weekly basis.
Year round camps run from October to June every year, including Winter, March & April breaks.
What ages are your programs for?
Our full-time summer camp program is open for children ages 4* to 12. Please contact us at jardininfantilacademy@rogers.com prior to registering a 4 year old as the maximum number permitted for this age group is 5.
Is lunch provided?
Yes, a healthy lunch is provided for children enrolled in Marta’s Daycare Program.
Lunch is also included at Cooking Camp, as it will be freshly prepared as part of the program. Campers should bring their own morning and afternoon snack, as well as a Tupperware container in case there are leftovers!
Lunch is not provided for any of the other camps. Campers are required to bring their own packed lunch and abundant snacks, for both the AM and PM.
Is Marta's Daycare Program participating in the Ontario child care fee subsidy program?
No, Marta’s Daycare Program has not opted into the program. After careful consideration, it was decided it was important to maintain the existing child care model: small, private, and outdoor-focused.
